HOW CAN WE SEARCH FOR UNITY IN DIVERSITY IN CUBAN CIVIL SOCIETY?
Cuban civil society is frequently criticized for its regrettable lack of unity. We believe that this assessment which we receive with attention from persons of goodwill is somehow not up to date or deep.
Cuban civil society has continued to grow and it has matured especially during the last three or four years. It is evident that this growth in identity and number has contributed to a greater acceptance for diversity, the necessary search for consensus has been accepted and there has been an acknowledgement that strongman politics lead to the same we wish to change. Nobody can attain democracy on his own. The ones who are capable to weave better consensus will attain democracy sooner, respecting and appreciating diversity. What we have experienced teaches us that: he who isolates himself fails. He who excludes others loses. We see it in Cuba and in the world.
